Existing Situation

Zodiac Express calls themselves as ā€œEliminator of Time and Distanceā€, is a renowned name in courier services & logistic industry in India. Our client involved the traditional system of delivery forms containing POID (unique id). Each form contains 8 parts or strips (delivery status of 8 end users). If their client or the individual end users needed to know about the delivery or consignment status, the courier agents had to manually find the form with the particular POID, crop the required portion out of the delivery form, scan them, and mail the matter to the concerned person, as the antiquated in-house delivery management system was not accessible to their clients and the other end users who constantly wanted to know about the delivery status.


Problem Statement

This method of processing forms led to wastage of time, manual effort. Moreover, hardcopy management had its own share of hassles, mainly poor document security. They wanted a software that would enable automatic reflection of the delivery status and retrieval of the scanned delivery form containing the unique POID when their unique number was typed in the desired system.


Solution

A customized software solution was provided, where our indigenous image processing split application, Intellisplit, was integrated with certain modules of i-doc. Intellisplit would separately cut out all the 8 different consignment strips and delivery status along with the receiverā€™s signature from each scanned delivery form, with the principles of cropping and splitting. These cropped data would be uploaded in the i-doc repository in bulk with proper meta data framework, to enable faster search, sharing and collaboration.
